Biblical Reflections

"and I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze." Exodus 31:3-4

I have always been intrigued by the craftsmen of Bible times. There were two men, Bazelel and Oholiab, who were empowered by the Spirit to have the skills to produce ornate objects. The metalwork of that time in history was exceptional. It also glorified God.

Recently, I have had a passion to honor God through art. It is my intention to produce works that will cause the viewer to ask questions, pursue and worship the Lord in thought. These sculptures are not intended to be the object of worship, only a means of drawing attention to God. I feel good about what I am trying to say in my artwork. It has been fulfilling to express myself through this mission of honoring Him.

I have always enjoyed metalworking. Following my interests in HS, I attended Penn College. Graduating with a certification in Welding, I entered the work force. Years later, I enrolled at Millersville University and graduated with a BS in Technology Education. Since 1987, I have taught metalwork to students at Hempfield High School, Landisville, PA.

I use many different techniques of metalworking, some of which are age old in practice. I forge metal by hand, use Plasma arc cutting and Oxy-Acetylene welding and cutting. Welding is used exclusively in the assembly of our products.    

Another interest of mine is playing the hammered dulcimer. I enjoy learning and playing hymns and Celtic music.
